i7-930 is triple channel system. Memory should be three DIMMs for optimum performance.

And for a gaming system, you don't need the memory bandwidth of a triple channel system. You can save a few $'s by going to an i5. OTOH, an X58 motherboard has more PCIe lanes available.

When did you buy these parts? The i7-950 recently dropped in price to essentially replace the 930.

I'd also agree with getting triple channel memory.
