Intel X25-M 160 GB vs SanDisk Extreme 120 GB vs Samsung 840?

Hello,

So I'm pretty new to this SSD phenomenon. Haven't followed the hardware trends for a few years and now that I'm about to shop for a new PC I'm confronted to something that is really unfamiliar to me. I've basically got no idea on how to compare SSDs, what specs should I consider, etc. So I'm turning to you my dear friends to help me solve this little dilemma.

Which one of the three linked SSDs has an overall better performance?

The Intel X25-M is a 1st generation SSD released in 2008.

The SanDisk Extreme and Samsung 840 were released in 2012. Either one of these is a good choice. I would probably go for the Samsung 840.

BestBuy.com has an Intel 520 Series 120GB drive for $100, or a 180GB for $130. Don't know if this is an option in your location. If it is these are fast, reliable drives, on sale for a good price.
