You can do different sizes but it will make it to the dirve with the smaller size for exampl a 1TB and a 500GB drive in a RAID 0 would only give you 1TB (500GB from each drive) for a RAID 1 it would only give you 500GB. (I have done this myself temporarly)

I really would not reccommend RAIDing with different spindle speeds (5400RPM, 5900RPM, 7200RPM), I'm sure the computer wont like that.

Ideally it is best to use the same drives models in a RAID enviroment.
