More about dual 480s
  1. A man of few words eh?

Based solely on performance: Tri SLi GTX470's. However have a read here http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=255463

Some serious heat issue's with Tri SLI GTX470's, even with 100% Fan speed.
  2. Then go with Dual GTX480... :)

470 or/and 480 are VERY power hungry cards.. even tom's hardware said that..
    3 sli 480..???// naaaah.. better just 2 5970
  4. I say go with tow GTX 480 as the less cards you have, the less issue with compatibility.
  5. Well, three 470's would be nicer, but 2 480's may be more managble on heat.. though if you're spending that much on graphics it may be within you price range to grab a watercooling set up for them then heat becomes alot less of an issue

Yeah because everyone loves terrible scaling... buying 2 5970s would be stupid. Anything over a CF/SLI setup (read more then 2x) is generally not a good idea. 2x 480s will be more then enough.

    stupid is buying 2 480s
  8. This is the OP choice, if you don't care about noise or heat then you can 2 way SLI GTX 480 since SLI is better scaled than Crossfire, if you want a better power consumption and less heat/noise then go with 2x HD5970...

    Your choice... :)
