Can I replace the Drive in my WD Elements?

Hello,
Been using a WD Elements 1.5TB hard drive to watch movies and music on my TV for about 2 years now and it appears I'm getting some bad sectors.

Can I take apart the enclosure and put a new internal hard drive in there? If so, should I just look for a standard 3.5" SATA drive?

With the old one out, can I hook that one into my PC to try to salvage a much data as possible?

Or should I just not be a cheapskate and buy a new external HD all together?

You can replace the drive and keep the enclosure without a problem.
