How to turn on lights with computer

hi if you Google "light control with computer"

here's what you get

Having the idea and a computer is nice but you need to know electricity because of wiring and you'll also need a controller and dimmer

There are a ton of brands that sell Z-wave devices that control all sorts of lights and appliances from your computer or other z-wave controllers. I've thought about doing it a handful of times but it is expensive.

Part of the reason I look into is because I already have a z-wave controller in my Logitech Harmony universal RF remote (don't remember the model number but I think it is a 9xx).

But yea, I can't justify $50 to turn a single light on and off, but it would be awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised if "there is an app for that."
