Mac and toshiba 1tb hard drive

Hello, I have 1TB hard drive for xmas . There are a couple of toshiba files on there that I can read, however The hard drive will not let me copy ant files to it so I can back them up.

do i need a patch or something?

Odds are the drive is formatted as NTFS, which a Mac can read, but not write to without special software.

If you never intend on using this drive with a PC, just use Disk Utility to delete the current partition on the drive and make a new HFS+ partition for use with your Mac. If you do want to also use it with a PC, then you will need to make a FAT32 partition instead of HFS+.
