Hi, This is my first time building a server and i am completely confused by SAS drives. This is the MOBO i am planning on using

It has 6 SATA ports but it does not have any SAS ports. I have looked at SAS controllers but they all seem to only have 2 SAS ports on them and i need to install 6 SAS drives for the two separate RAIDs. Can someone please explain how i am supposed to set these up. Thanks!

For 6 sas drives, you can get an 8-Port SAS controller. It will have two multilane connectors and you can use two 4-drive fanout cable for it.

For example:

Sun 375-3536 SGXPCIESAS-R-INT-Z StorageTek 8-port SAS RAID Controller. OEM Version Adaptec ASR-5805]

LSI 07-00021-01 / Molex 74562-7500 Internal MiniSAS SFF-8087 to (4) SFF-8482 29pin SAS Drive cable with 4-pin Power
