Hello everyone,

I just took a computer hardware and software course in college and decided that it was time to build my first computer. I have replaced power supplies and changed memory but have never messed with a mb or cpu.

I started my computer up for the first time and what do you know, it does not work. I was hoping that someone could help me figure out where to fix it. All led lights and fans work. The dvd drives start up and I can hear the hard drive working as well. The mb lights up and the cpu fan is running. I also have listened for a beep at start up but do not hear one.

My screen does not pick up an input signal and I have a feeling that there is something wrong with the graphics card. The graphics card fan works but it only has dvi connections. My screen only has a vga connection so i have an adapter for the chord.

It is probably something really stupid and I will probably be kicking myself later.

Thank you.

I actually did find those after I posted this message. I kind of wish that thread was easier to find because it was very informative. I went through it and found out that 2 ram sticks was too much for my mobo to deal with from the start. I will have to change the voltage before I can put the second stick in.

Thanks for the help =).

I agree with you. The thread used to be much easier to find. Now.....not so much. Glad you figured it out though. If you need anything else just ask.
