Necessary Screen Resolution

So I'm in the market for a laptop that is portable but can also be used to watch movies and streaming television. I was just wondering what resolution would be necessary for this. I'm looking at 15" - 16" screen sizes and was wondering if the 1920 x 1080 resolution was overkill? Would 1366 x 768 fit my needs? Thanks for the advice.

Edit: Also, what about 1600 x 900 on a 16" display? Would that be good?
