I have two battery power meters on my sony pcg-sr17k. The sony
provided power utility appears to do a more thorough job of predicting
remaining battery time. It says 2 hours right now whereas the windows
power meter says 30 mins. I'd like to disable the windows power meter
from showing up in the taskbar. I have no desire to have two meters
sitting beside each other.
any clue how to make the windows power meter never show up?

I wish it were that easy.. That setting toggles whether the windows
battery indicator stays on regardless of if you are plugged into ac
power or not.. I don't want to see the windows power meter even when
I'm running on battery because sony provides their own, which is more
functional. And I don't want the two tray icons which are redundant
when on battery power.

probably a registry setting to tell windows to NEVER show it's power
meter taskbar icon..

Hi Ethan -

Easy.

Start | Control Panel | Power Options | Advanced tab. Uncheck "Always show
icon on the taskbar."
