Will this processor: AMD Athlon II X2 265 Regor 3.3GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor ADX265OCGMBOX work with this motherboard: GA-M57SLI-S4.

Thanks in advance

First, thank you for the fast reply. However, they only show this one

AMD Athlon II X2 260 3200MHz 1MBx2 N/A Regor 45nm C3 65W 4000 F15E

They don't show the 3.3GHz 265 I don't know if there is much difference or not lol so I was asking here.

It's basically identical to the 260 save for base clock speeds, so you may be able to get away with it.
It's probably better to go with something you know for-sure will work before you put stuff together, though.

No I don't have either I had the GA-M55SLI-S4 but it died and I was wanting to replace it but still keep all my original stuff (8GB ddr2 mem. 2X IDE dvd burners, video card, and sound card) but still get a little upgrade in the chip thus the 3.3 dual core so I liked the GA-M57SLI-S4. However if that beta BIOS is that bad then I'll have to look into something else.

The memory was just way to expensive to replace at this time and the chip was only $80 and I could get the MOBO for around $45.

Thanks for your reply

yea thats what I thought however I spoke with gigabyte and they said only with a beta BIOS and malmental suggested not to use a beta BIOS.

I dont have a problem using a better chip but I dont have the money atm to replace all my other stuff ie the memory. I have 8GB of DDR2 and not sure if I can find a MOBO cheap enough and run DDR2 and not DDR3 mem.

Thanks for your post.

I like nVidia as well.

I didn't mention however, that I need SLI support because I run 2 GeForce 8800 GTS's They are only 320 Mb each but they run really well in this machine I have only one and it runs a lot of new games. I cant get another video card atm and I have a system that runs only the one and I really miss my SLI lol. I saw that the 2 you mentioned didn't have SLI support.

I also have no problem getting my mobo from eBay lol

Nice, I liked the RAID my other GA-M55SLI-S4 was RAID compatable and I ran it. I know people claim that it isnt any faster for games but I when I lost my RAID from a bad disk I experienced a definite loss of speed.

And yes it is more than I can spend however, as noted above I have 2x IDE DVD burners (new) so I also need an IDE slot

It has more than enough SATA slots though all in all a very nice mobo

Thanks for post
