$600 Gaming PC (before tax+ship), Help Requested

Hello all, I'm a first timer here. Unfortunately I've been in the dark about PC components for the past few years and don't know where to begin. Please help.

Approximate Purchase Date: A couple weeks.

Budget Range: $600 AR (before shipping & tax)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (not hardcore), Watching Movies, Office, Encoding Audio/Video files.

Parts Not Required: monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Anything that's reliable. Newegg preferably since I live close to the HQ.

Country of Origin: California, US

Parts Preferences: Prefer Intel if my budget allows. If not, an AMD will suffice. Optical Out on mobo for audio is a plus! 4GB RAM required.

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Additional Comments: Main game I will use it for is Starcraft 2. CPU should take priority over GPU since Starcraft 2 tends to bottleneck at the CPU and also because I am not the most hardcore gamer. Additionally, I would like something that would be upgradable in the future. Which is one reason why I prefer an Intel processor, as I definitely would like to run their CPUs in the long run. Lastly, something that run's quietly would be a plus (at least fan control?).

I understand I might be asking for too much, and am willing to make compromises. Please point me in the right direction!

Thank you!!!

  3. What resolution is your monitor? As a "non-hardcore" gamer, are you willing to lower a few settings? If so, and your resolution isn't too high, you may not need to spend over $200 of your budget on a GPU; a HD5770 may suffice.

Yes, I will be using a HD 5770. I will not be gaming at 1920x1080, but will be using the OS in that. Thank you.
