Why would a dvd cd/dvd rom run slow when reading?

I have a Dell 2400 that has 1 gig of memory, windows xp, Its been a good machine but sadly I let my hard drive fill up until I only had about 20% left on the 80 gig and this slowed things down a great deal as well as reading dvds for copying.I replaced the hard drive with a seagate 320 and had cloned everything over to the new drive but it still is reading to slow.Everything else works good. The drive used to work really well.Could it be going out? or? Not sure if I picked the right category.

  1. You can try adding that extra atleast 1gb of ram, it will really help a lot.
