So I recently purchased a RAM upgrade for my homebuilt PC

MSI 890GXM-G65 AM3 AMD 890GX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
GIGABYTE GV-R577SO-1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ955FBGMBOX
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL7D

Had 4GB RAM, doubled to 8GB with a pair of the same sticks.

Since then, if I set my PC to hibernate (which I used to do every day, almost never shut down) and resume it, my monitors flicker (to say a connection was found) but the screen stays black. I usually have to pop out and put the RAM stick back in for it to work.

I never get this problem if I shut down (always starts perfectly).

Any way I can fix it?

How about your power supply. You have a system with specs that require a hefty power supply. the addition of the ram chip may have pushed your power consumption to the limit of your psu and it is compensating by taking power from your graphics card. I had to downgrade my power supply and noticed the same problem. Once i put a more powerful psu the problem was cured.

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341022

Just downloaded memtest.. rebooting comp now.

edit: ran memtest for about 40 min and it was at 45% complete.. cancelled it but didnt say there were any errors (also didnt say it had any passes). is there a quicker/easier way to run it with a log I can show?

double edit: now whenever i do any actions (e.g. type, hover over a tab/link, open a file), my secondary monitor flickers - a lot. Damn memtest.

triple edit (going for a record): second monitor flickering was fixed on restart. huzaa!
