Processor Switch problems

Replaced my old e2180 with e7500, windows 7 wont boot and restart itself over and over. Placed my old cpu back and it works. can you guys help me whats wrong?

oh and the e7500 is 2nd hand, could it be faulty?

What motherboard are you using? It could be that the E7500 is not compatible with your motherboard until you apply a BIOS update. Try finding a BIOS update and a CPU compatibility list from your motherboard manufacturer's website. ASUS, for one, gives a very good documentation of CPU and memory compatibility, as well as driver/software updates.

And yes, it is possible for your processor to be faulty.

Im using a foxconn p43a. Ok gona try to update the BIOS and install the e7500 again. Thanks for the quick reply guys. will keep you posted

Before you try to update your bios, check to see if it will fix your problem.

A failed bios update can permanently brick your motherboard, so be certain of what you will be doing.
