Hard Drive Clicking/Restarting a Faulty Power Connector Issue?

So over the past couple weeks I've been experiencing this weird issue with my hard drive. (A 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 rpm ) During random use, mostly during gaming though that may be a coincidence, the hard drive makes a "clicking" noise, the same noise it normally makes on start-up. The screen then freezes and forces me to restart the computer. I found that if I unplug and then re-plug the power connector which connects to the hard drive, that sometimes fixes the issue. This problem has become more frequent in the past several days however, up until last night, when after the hard drive clicked and I restarted, it hung on the "Loading operating system" screen. I originally blamed this on my hard drive failing, but I managed to get it up and running this morning and backed up some important files. This lead me to believe that the problem was not with the hard drive, but the power connector cable. (since it was restarting during operation, perhaps from a lack of power?) So I changed the power cable and connected an entirely different one to the hard drive. It booted up fine and I restarted several times and loaded up several games just to make sure. So what do you guys think? Did I solve the issue? Thanks for taking the time to read my explanation too, it's greatly appreciated.
