Hey tomshardware,

I'm a longtime lurker and now that I actually will build my own pc (rather than having my dad do it ; I'm 23, my dad just is on top of PC stuff better than I am XD), I'd like your opinion on what I'd call a beginner's box on a budget.

Let's just assume 1USD = 0.90 CAD (even though that's far from true) for the sake of comparison.

Here goes: (Everything's been shopped for on newegg.ca since I haven't found generally better prices anywhere in Canada. I'll post the newegg item# in parentheses for each element)

HDD: WD Caviar Green 640 Gb HDD (N82E16822136737) - 56.99$ CAD
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 460 1GB (N82E16814127510) - 229.99$ CAD +(-) 20$ USD MIR
CPU: Intel Core i5-750 @ 2.66 Ghz (N82E16819115215) - 208.99$ CAD
Motherboard: EVGA P55V 120-LF-E651-TR (N82E16813188064) - 84.99$ CAD +(-) 20$ USD MIR
RAM: G-Skill 4Gb (2x 2Gb) DDR3 1333 (N82E16820231396) - 77.99$ CAD
PSU: LOGISYS 575W PSU (N82E16817170017) - 36.49$ CAD
Misc: Case, Keyboard, DVD drive (already got a mouse) - 31.99$ CAD + 12.49$ CAD + 19.99$ CAD

Total: 759.91$ CAD
Total + taxes and shipping : 836.10$ CAD

(Sorry for the prices' formating.. I couldn't find how to align everything in a table or something...)

Hopefully this is not too bad.. I know the PSU will probably need replacement when/if I want to add a second GTX460 for SLI. And probably add another set of 2x2Gb RAM at some point. But I'm keeping expenses low for the moment, and will probably add elements early next year or so.

Thanks a lot guys,
Chlikaflok
