Power for my gtx 460

Hello ppl

My family was awesome and gave me as a present a Asus ENGTX460 and starcraft2 yesterday. But im confused on how to install the card because of the power configuration. So here it goes and I hope you guys can help me.

My video card has this 2 separate power slots. see image.

the card just included 1 adapter of this type.

my power supply do not have an extra 6 pin plug to use. so my question is. do i only need the cable supplied with the card and connect the 2 4 pins to the adapter and plug it to 1 slot on the card or do i need to supply power to both on the vid card.

What Power supply do you have?

Its likely that if your Power supply doesn't have any 6 pin PCI-E connectors then it doesn't have the power for such a card as the GTX460.
You need to have 2 x 6 pin PCI-E connectors in the card (Not just one).

Thank you for taking the time to answer this question. i have a 500 watt psu. i guess i need to buy another adapter or a new psu.

Personally I would get a new quality power supply, The fact that your power supply doesn't have any PCI-E 6 Pin connectors tells you that it really wasn't designed to power a card like the GTX460.
