Hey everyone.

I sold my old PC to my gf a month or 2 ago, but the motherboard just gave out so I'd like to replace it for her.

It's a Phenom II X3 720 BE and the Mobo is an Asus M4A79XTD-EVO.

I've kind of been keeping up with newer tech's, but not so much Phenom II's.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a solid cheap board? USB 3.0 would be nice, but not required. I'm not going to be overclocking it or anything.. it's got a single Radeon 5770 and 4GB's of 1600MHz Memory.

Thanks! =]

It depends how cheap you want, and what other options you want.

BIOSTAR A870U3 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - $64.99

It got comparatively good reviews, and it supports 1600MHz, but only through overclocking.

If you want one that supports 1600MHz without overclocking then the price goes up.

ASUS M4A87TD - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - $99.99 ($89.99 after rebate)

ASUS M4A87TD EVO - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... - $102.99

I would start with these three.

Awesome, thanks jsanthara.

I was looking at those ASUS' myself, but I'm completely comfortable OC'ing that Biostar.
She definitely doesn't need anything with bells and whistles, just reliable.
Worst case scenario, she deals with 1333MHz, which she'd never notice.
