Hey forums,

I've come up with a final gaming build. It's about 850 dollars after rebates. I need opinions (problems, bottlenecks, compatability) to make sure it's good to go. Also, I need help on which 5850 to choose for this build. (see below)

CPU and PSU Combo: Phenom II X4 955 & Corsair 650W

Mobo and OS Combo: Windows 7 Home Premium & Asrock 870 Extreme3

RAM: Patriot G-Series 4Gb DDR3 1333 Mhz

HDD: Western Digital Caviar Green 500Gb 32Mb Cache

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912

Optical Drive: Lite-On
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

GPU: Asus DirectCU HD 5850 OR XFX HD 5850
ASUS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-121-...
XFX: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Please help with the 5850 issue, and I want to know any thoughts you have about the build. ANY. Criticisms, issues, compatibility, whatever.

Thanks :bounce:

Nice! I would take the XFX cheaper, dual lifetime warranty and exhaust from the cooler outside the case.

My only issue with the XFX is that it has no voltage control. And I would like my 5850 to overclock to the level of a 5870. That I know the ASUS can. However, do you think the price difference is worth it?

If you are going to tweak voltages for a increase in overclock then it is worth it.

But otherwise the system is good?

Thing is...I can get the Caviar Green for incredibly cheap
35 bucks new
