Hello forums,

My question is just as the title states. Today, I plan on ordering the SSD for my first build which will hold the OS as well as some of my most played games (TF2, Battlefield 3, CSS) and programs (Word,etc.).

As of now I can only afford either the Samsung 840 250GB and have to wait on a WD Caviar Black 1TB, or I can get the 840 Pro and the WD Caviar Black in the same order.

The 840 is $185, while the 840 Pro is $120 when everything is said and done, but, I lose 122GB of SSD storage at the expense of somewhat faster speeds.

Which would be the wiser decision to make in regards to real world situations when it comes to SSD usage?

Thanks for any tips you can give me.

Sorry for the double post, but I think I am going to go with the 128GB as it has the same, if not better quality, than the 830, and if I can get the Caviar Black 1TB, space won't be too much of an issue.

Besides, there will be plenty of deals in the coming months, so maybe I can snag an 840 Pro 256GB on the cheap if the 128GB changes my life that much.

Are there any 240-256GB SSDs you would recommend specifically?

If you were already thinking of spending $185 on an Samsung 840, you should just pick up the 840 Pro 256gb for $229.

I'm not sure how long they'll be at this price as both Newegg and Amazon just jacked their prices back up (they were at $239).

Or you can pick up a Samsung 830 256gb for $205 on amazon right now.
