Asus Sabretooth RAM issue

Last response: in Motherboards

Hi all, got a problem with my Asusx58 mobo.
My system is as follows,
X58 mobo
Core i7950
6gb Corsair CMX6GX3M3A16009C ram
Vortex SSD
Fenrir cooler
Win 7 64bit
CPU-Z only recognises 4gb ram as does Windows. CPU-Z only sees the ram in slots 1 and 3 but not 5. This is apparently a common problem with these mobos so sent it back to Scan computers who said "yes" a faulty board si eventually sent me a new board. Rebuilt it all - fired it up and guess what? Same problem, now they are saying send mobo, processor and RAM back. Dont really want to do this yet. Has anybody got any ideas before i reluctantly send it all back?

Hi and welcome to Tom's forum.

Do this:

Run CMD>write MSCONFIG and hit enter>boot tab>advance options>see if the "max RAM allowed" is checked, if it's, unchecked and reboot the rig.

Let me know if that works.
