Hello fabrella;

The 'select proper boot device' is sounding like a possible hard drive problem.
Do you have a bootable CD you can run?

Here is way to create your own bootable CD or USB thumb drive
Ubuntu Desktop
It gets you a chance to try booting up without your needing your hard drive.
If you can get Ubuntu up and running I think you've shown the laptop is OK apart from the hard drive.

After you download and burn the image - use the F12 key when you power on the laptop to get an option to boot from the CD or USB thumb drive.

Hi fabrella, it looks like the HDD could be damaged. What do u see, when u try to load the windows? Do u see the BIOS at all?

Can u get in to the BIOS? When it starts keep pressing DEL button.
