So i got advice here and im a little miffed in going with the 5870 if its working as intended. (considering my sites were set on a 470 until my mind was changed here)

Wow crashed graphics twice, when alt tabbed theres major pixelation of the game overlapping in bottom left of my desktop. Card has had a few hickups while playing, screen temporary locks for about 3 seconds and continues.

Im assuming i need to RMA. If i RMA can i pick a gtx470 or 480 instead? After looking at reviews seems like the 5870 is very tempermental.

Thank you

P.S. My case is staying very cool, temperatures look fine. I'm not overclocking yet.

Corsair 750w psu, amd 955 on the ASROCK 890fx board

Drivers are current, there shouldn't be a problem.

Pretty sure i already know the answer of yes send it back, just verifying here before I actually do.

Possibility of auto detect fail? I think my software tried to dl the 5970 hemlock drivers and did. I reinstalled the proper ones, this time using the website instead of cd it came with. We will see if this fixes it.

Again, any help appreciated.

Actually it's 51w more under full load.

Anybody here care about heat and power usage?? LOL

intresting guru3d said 20w. But nevertheless you're getting a better performing card for less even considering the costs of the extra electricity. And again why does heat matter? Fermi handles better temps than ati cards. Thus overclocks just as well.
