DVD Rom not reading

My DVD Rom is not working and even not in the BIOS/My Computer list, I'm using an W7 Enterprise I just backdating the date so W7 will not expired. I want to downgrade my OS to XP but can't do it with DVD Rom not working but it opens and read as I hear it moving. I tried deleting the Lower/Upperfilters in the registry but still doesn't work..Anyone might help me on this?

  1. If the DVD drive is not shown in the BIOS (after you have checked the BIOS settings) then the problem is either a faulty drive or a bad connection to the drive (particularly common in laptops) or a faulty controller. Check the connections to the drive by removing the drive leads and refitting, try a different IDE or SATA connection, or try another known working drive.
