1 card... cant do it
2 cards... you just put 2 screens in first card 1 screen in second card

with 2 cards do you do it like nvidia surround or do you still need that stupid adapter and do it the same as a single card.

you still need an adapter, only one card can be used for eyefinity

But if youre using smaller monitors a $25 DP->VGA adapter would work just fine.

Are you playing games on all of these, or just using them as desktop space? If the latter, you can get a cheapo secondary card. If the former, You should probably be getting multiple high end card to play at those large resolutions anyways.
