Seagate Barracuda issue

I have a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB hard drive in my build. As soon as I boot my computer, the hard drive spins up for a couple seconds, shuts down, spins up again for a few seconds, shuts down, etc. In the past couple days I've been hooking up old IDE hard drives to pull files off of them, but I disconnected the Barracuda before I did anything else. My system specs:
mobo: Asus M4A87TD/USB3
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5670
RAM: G. Skill Ripjaws X Series 4 GB (2x2 GB) @ 1333 MHz
PSU: Azza Dynamo 500W
CD/DVD: Asus DRW-24B3ST
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB
I built this computer almost a year ago, and I haven't changed how I use it at all. Nothing is overclocked at the moment. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi :)

Run a hard drive test in DOS...HIRENS CD etc, it sounds like a failing hard drive...

All the best Brett :)

Well, I tried SeaTools for DOS and Hiren's BootCD, and neither of them could read the drive for long enough to do much. I think the drive might be toast.

It could also be your computer.
Try connecting it with different cables, or even better another computer.

I tried it in another computer and it couldn't boot into either operating system (Windows XP or Linux Mint 13), but then I put it back in my normal computer and it booted just fine. I'm posting with it running seemingly fine right now.
