How to wipe my data from a HDD

First of all, I am not sure this is in the right section so please move it if possible.

My question is that I have a Windows 8 PC and I want to wipe everything so it seems brand new when booting up.

I'm asking because I've recently gotten a new laptop and I am going to sell the PC but I need everything deleted.

I have already transferred everything I needed to the laptop.
