Sudden Lag Spikes

k so ive recently gotten a new d-link router and ive used it for about a month, two days ago my reception suddenly dropped a couple percent and im getting pretty bad lag spikes every minute or two ( have NEVER had them before ) i run windows 7 and this started a day or two ago, its messing up my bf2 and COD time and i need some suggestions how to fix it

is it a wireless? If you didn't set security settings on it, someone may be leeching your internet.
