I am trying to decide which graphics card to purchase and I am looking for a quiet and cool running card somewhere around the $200 price range. I want to buy in the next week if possible. I believe I have decided on the NVIDIA route and am confused about the differences between the GTX 460 and the GTX 465.

NewEgg has the

GIGABYTE GV-N465UD-1GI GeForce GTX 465 1GB for $189 after rebate
GIGABYTE GV-N460OC-1GI GeForce GTX 460 1GB for $229 no rebate.

All of the reviews I have read are excited about the 460 at its current price point and were dissapointed with the 465 at its old price point. With the 465 being less expensive is it the better buy compared to the 460?

Thank you for your advice,
Dan

I've read that article too, it is very helpful.

My understanding on the 460 768mb is that it is less powerful than the 465 1gb and at least with that current deal they are equally priced. What I am confused on though is whether a $40 decrease in price is worth the hotter power hungry 465 compared to the 460 1gb given that they result in similar FPS and have the same features in the end.

Would you recommend the stock GTX 460 or do you believe the Gigabyte version for the same price is a good buy?

Thanks again for your quick replys

I do like the Gigabyte coolers they use. MSI has a cool setup as well. I'm also a fan of Asus.

Factor in that the GTX 460 overclocks very well, if you are into that. People have been getting them well over 800MHz without much problem. Alot of the stock cards are factory OCed as well.
