Whats your budget? what are you going to be using this system for? what is the resolution of the monitor you will be using? how strong is the power supply in the system?Budget: 500 or less not trying to drain my bank account
Resolution of monitor: Not really sure. I currently use 1024 by 768
It'll be used for: gaming css mainly
Power supply: 1000 watts

None of those things match up right. You already have a 1kW power supply and you dont have a graphics card yet, you have a budget of 500 but are only using 1024x768. I suggest you grab a 1GB GTX 460 for about $230 off of newegg and spend the rest on a nice monitor.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
thats the monitor i have now. ANd when i built my pc i had a budget but now i have a job im looking to boost it up a lil.

1680 x 1050...thats ur resolution...and for cs:s you dont need anything super powerful. however, if you plan on playing any other games, I would highly suggest a gtx 460 or if you wanna spend less, get a 5770. Both will play games beautifully on your monitor. No i'm not using that res. I was but i changed it. And i'm actualy looking at a new processor now i'm on the esea forums and everyone is stating that i should get a new processor instead of a new gfx card.

Because i'm using my chipset on my msi motherboard and i can't support that res anymore.Any modern IGP supports that res, do you have the display driver installed?
Id say just get an HD5770 and call it a day, unless you want to play games that's much more demanding, you should be happy.
What is the model of your case/PSU/Mobo BTW? If its any good, consider a scratch build.

get the 460 since your board is SLI capable, no need for any other upgrades. He has a 775 board and a AM3 CPU.
Its like the dude who said that he broke a cpu trying to cram a 1366 CPU into a 1156 socket.
For now, I would suggest a Nvidia Quadro 6000, a little bit out of budget, but worth it.

Ok would it be smarter to sell everything start fresh with my case and my harddrive and just go for it? if so what should i go for amd intel nvidia ati? what would be a good setup for a gamer/websurfer

Unless this is a proposed build, either you gave some erong info or is just throwing out random models.
