Replacing/Upgrading GeForce 9800 GT

Hello everyone.

So recently my XFX's GeForce 9800 GT overheated and ceased to work. Since I bought the PC as a full from a vendor and still have 3 months of warranty left, I used the chance. However, soon after I got a reply that they don't have another 9800 GT to replace it, and instead I got offered a

"Gigabyte GV-R545OC-512I / 512MB DDR3/ 64-bit/ Core 700MHz(650MHz)/ Memo 1600MHz/ Low profile/ HDMI/ HDCP/ Dual-link DVI-I/ D-Sub/ GBT Fansink" as a replacement

Hardware isn't really up my alley but I'd prefer to not get bullied into making a bad decision. From what I've managed to find out, it seems that the replacement would actually be worse for gaming. Thus I'd like to ask help on suggesting a video card of similar quality or even better. I'm going to try asking the vendor for a better card instead.

My current spec is:
Intel E8400 processor C2D 300/1333/6M S775BX ATX
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L board
Codegen ATX 400W V2.03 P4 PFC PSU

I use 1280x1024 resolution

Summary: I'd like to hear suggestions on cards that would work well with the current set-up or similar in performance to the 9800 GT that would be good for gaming.

Feel free to ask any questions, I'll do my best to answer them.

The HD5450 is not even on the chart which has a HD5670 as the ATi equivalent of your 9800GT, so according to that you're being shafted mate.

Umm At that res, +1 mouse 5670 would be fine. The 5750 is good too.

A 5750 could be pushing it for a warranty replacement but it could be worth asking for one anyway I suppose.

Thanks for the answers so far. I'm currently debating on how to approach it, I think I'll try asking for the 5570, they did just offer a card around only half the monetary worth of the original.

the 9800 GT is a better card than the HD5450, so don't even consider that option!!

don't downsize because of the fault, push for the 5770 but nothing less than the 5670.... nothing less!!!

just my thought

I think the 5770 might be pushing it a bit too much, will be trying for 5750.
