hey, is there any difference between these to hard rives other than the size, I am not too bothered about the space if I had to choose one but I just want to know which one will perform better:

750GB Western Digital WD7500BPKT Scorpio Black, 2.5", 9.5 mm, SATA 3Gb/s, 7200rpm, 16MB Cache, 4ms
1TB Western Digital WD1002FAEX Caviar Black, SATA III 6Gb/s, 7200rpm, 64MB Cache, 8ms

my build is:

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge)
Sapphire radeon 7850 2GB
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
XFX Pro 650W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (CMX8GX3M2A1600C11)
Cooler Master Elite 430 Windowed Case
Resolution: 1680x1050

any help appreciated

The first one is a laptop hard drive, but I guess you knew that already.
Going on specs alone my money would go on the second one, provided that your motherboard is equipped with SATA III ports (which it is).

Agreed, while the laptop drive is a little quieter, it has an average seek time of 12ms compared to 8.9ms for the 3.5 inch. Both have 5 year warranties and are good drives, but the 3.5 inch makes a bit more noise than the slower laptop drive.
