I'm entering for my friend. He is having some family issues, so it would be great for him to get a new card.

With that being said (without trying to be insensitive at all) I am not really looking for personal stories, just a brief explanation on why you want the card. Like ' my friend is having some family issues, it would be great to give him a card ' would work just fine.

I'd like the card so I can finally put my 9600GSO 384mb to rest. Even highly OCed and at low resolutions it is showing its age. It will be in a system with a e5200 OCed to 3.5ghz and 4gb DDR2.

jyjjy - I actually upgraded from an 8800GS to the 4770, it's a decent step up, and can be quite noticeable.

Yeah, I'm sure it would be a very nice boost. I actually got the GSO about 2 years ago when EVGA was offering them for $35 after rebate. In the time since I have yet to see a better deal on a card this good. It even OCs extremely well, 25% totally stable. It has served me well but it is certainly time for an upgrade.

I remember there was a GSO that would fully unlock into a 8800GTS 512 or something like that, never got my hands on one.

Yeah, I remember reading about that after and being disappointed it wasn't my model. I think it was just one model made by Galaxy that wasn't even sold in the US though.
I would be cool if more cards could do it. I mean HD5830/50/70 are all the same chip and cost the same to produce. The only recent example is the models of the GTX 465 that can unlock into a GTX 470. At least the AMD processors allow for core unlocks which is pretty cool.

Doesn't look like too many people interested in a free Gfx card, oh well better chance for you guys lol, doesn't matter to me.

Surprised at the lack of interest

My guess would be that most simply have a better card than the HD4770 at this point.

Yeah that's a good point, but some people have to have some friends who could use it, or want to build a cheap new rig and are looking for a budget card. Anyways few more days to go.

I'd have to agree that most forum members probably have upgraded to a DX11 based card by now and I know I have a 10 year old niece who could use the 4770 but the newer onboard video chips like the Radeon 3300 on her 790GX based MOBO have improved enough that for the simple web based games she plays on the thing is more than adequate and I'd rather see someone that is going to use the potential of that card get it instead of it going to waste being used for that !

Well only a couple of you guys have entered lol, but I'll pick the winner tomorrow and try to ship it thurs.

I was going to enter for my buddy, but he decided it was worth the 90 bucks to grab a 5570 instead. Neat personal contest though! keep it up, annisman.

I certainly don't need the card for my system. And I wasn't originally going to enter. (though I saw there was a "lack of interest").

However, my wife's PC could use it! LOL She has my old PC, with a VERY old GPU. We unfortunately can't afford to upgrade her PSU right now, so a lower power req GPU upgrade would be nice.

Congratulations jyjjy. I myself have an XFX HD 4770 and it runs great. Plays all the games that I need on maximum settings. Those games being F.E.A.R, F.E.A.R 2 Project Origin & Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. Odd that I can absolutely max out F.E.A.R. 2 without any lag but FPS drops to 15 at 1920 x 1080 with shadows enabled in the original F.E.A.R. Might just be drivers or something. It's at ATi Overdrive's max overclock, 830 MHz core, 850 MHz memory. Pretty sure you could push at least another 30 MHz on the core and 120 MHz on the memory. Unfortunately my card's BIOS seems to be locked, I can't push it any further on MSI Afterburner. RivaTuner might work though.
