Problem updating AMI BIOS on ASUS Mainboard

Hello. I'm trying to update the bios on a pc that I've upgraded to Windows 7 as I think that will allow me to fix a problem where only 3.12GB of 4GB installed memory is being used. My current version of the BIOS is 2005 which is not good. The difficulty I have had is finding a free update for the bios. I don't know if I'm missing something obvious, but the only links I find lead me to pay for something called BiosAgentPlus which I don't think is right. Going to be sat here until late puzzling this one so any help would be great. Have Sisoft Sandra if there is any info you think would help.

What motherboard, BIOS version and Windows 7 version (32 or 64 bit)? I run Windows 7 x64 on a system that has an old BIOS and all RAM (6 GB) is available.

with 3.12 gig of ram available you are probably running a 32bit operating system.
If so updating the bios will not make any difference.
Go to the manufactures website to get bios updates. (whoever made the motherboard) or the OEM if it is a dell,acer etc...

Hi - Thanks for the fast replies. I read that the 32bit version that I originally installed
was possibly limiting the RAM in this way so I upgraded to 64bit and that did nothing. I read on a couple of forums about Hardware reserved RAM which is essentially the problem that I am trying the fix. I have put a sandra report on the Mainboard below. The Asus MB currently has the AMI Bios from 2005 which doesn't have any options to fix the RAM issue in the way they show on the forum I saw. Hope this helps:

Hahaha. Fair enough. Now that I know that it's a limitation of the motherboard then I can look at tweaking elsewhere. Thanks a lot for saving me so much time on this issue. Very glad to have joined the forum given how much I've been referring to it lately.
