Hi. I am looking to upgrade my 8600. I am trying to get a card that can last (as in 3-5 years of maxed out settings) for around $200, but no higher than $250. Details below...
APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: End of September BUDGET RANGE: $150-$250 MAX

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, high settings on DiRT 2, fuel, and upcoming games such as TDU2, DiRT 3, etc, and a few shooters now and then.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: nvidia geforce 8600 GT 1GB; BFG 450 Watt GS with 36 AMPS on dual 12v

OTHER RELEVANT SYSTEM SPECS: AMD 64x2 6000+ (stock speed) ASUS M2A-VM mobo, Corsair xms2 DDR2 800 (2GB x 2) (1GB x 2)

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg, tigerdirect COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: nvidia is my preference, typically evga, but I am cool with other brands

OVERCLOCKING: I might overclock the card.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1680 x 1050

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: External exhaust please, run newer games on high/max (mainly racing)

I have been thinking of the GTX 460. Any thoughts on tihs card?

Hmmm yeah I might upgrade the CPU too. I was thinking a Phenom x4 XXX (am2+ compatible) any suggestions for the processor would be nice too. I might consider an ATI card 5830 or 5850
