I have a laptop that the internet will work fine from a ATT DSL router - however when I attempt to connect through a Cable router I end up with limited or no connectivity message.
Desktop works fine with it cable router - using same cables to connect.
I was told that there is a setting change - but unaable to find out what the change needs to be.
Any suggestions??

here's to guide to set IP address

go to CMD prompt in your desktop & enter this

ipconfig/all

note these details

& enter the same in your laptop except IP address

if your desktop ip is 192.168.1.1
the give different ip to your laptop 192.168.1. (2 to 254 any number of your choce)

default gateway , subnet mask , dns details are same as desktop
