Western Digital VelociRaptor 1TB in external USB 3.0?

Hi.
I'm new to the forums so apologies for any mistakes. I have a USB 3.0 enclosure waiting for a 3.5 HDD. I was wondering if I would benefit from using a Western Digital VelociRaptor (10,000rpm) rather than a 7200rpm HDD.

Thanks.

  1. There is very little benifit from using them internall. I think the USB 3 bus would apply more latency making it less useful.

Just get a caviar black drive. It will be plenty fast enough.

Or if you really need speed then an esata ssd
