Is my PSU good enough for this system?

This is my setup

CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 640 Propus 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor

GPU: Galaxy 60XGH6HS3HML GeForce GTX 460 GC Edtion Video Card - 1024MB GDDR5, PCI-Express 2.0, Dual DVI, Mini HDMI, SLI, DirectX 11, Fermi - 3696 MHz

MOBO: MSI AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory

CASE/PSU: Rosewill Black Computer Case 500W Power Supply (Model:R519-BK)

HDD's: 1x 1TB SEAGATE 7200 rpm

CD/DVD Drives: 2 (These are going to be purchased ... Recommendations would be nice)


I will be purchasing a new PSU in march for my GPU...But will this PSU be able to handle my setup for now?

  1. that's an old PSU and I would skip it. if you want a decent PSU that is cheap, newegg has a sale on the antec 430w for around $30 after rebate, corsair has a similar offer for their 430w.
  2. Yes i know its old...but will it be able to handle my system?
  3. possibly, its an old design and not very efficient. it may state 500w but most of the amps will not be on the 12v rail that powers your cpu and gpu.
