First Time PC Builder

Hello all,

I am going to be building myself a computer soon and i have done a decent amount research into the parts. I am looking for a decent gaming computer for Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 (when it comes out) and World of warcraft with maybe the occasional FPS. I am just wondering if the parts i picked out are decent or if anyone has any feedback related to them. here goes the list.

Case Antec Nine hundred Two:

Mother Board Asus P7P55D Pro:

Power Supply 650W Antec Continuous Power Supply:

Hard Drive Western Digital 750GB Caviar Black:

OS: Windows 7 64-Bit Home Edition

Memory CORSAIR DOMINATOR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600:

Processor Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor BX80605I5750:

DVD Drive LITE-ON Black 24X DVD+R:

Monitor SAMSUNG XL2370-1 Charcoal Gray 23" 2ms Full HD HDMI LED Backlight LCD Monitor Slim Design:

Any Feedback is appreciated thank you :) Also as a note i was planning on overclocking the processor up to 3 ghz if i needed to but i didn't think i would.

I was also worried that my Graphics card might be to much for the board? thanks again!

  1. anyone feed back ? :)
  2. I would change the board to the sabertooth => because it has some real nice features for 10 bucks more, although the colors may be.. not your style.
(Do you care for USB3/SATA II?)

Change out the power supply to this => because that antec one is a little.. too cheap. None of the wires are sleeved.. its grey.. XFX would be the better choice.

Much faster 1TB hard drive => or the 500GB version =>

Cheaper, all black SATA optical disc drive =>

Corsair dominator isn't that great.. get some g.skill, they are faster and cheaper =>

Don't overclock the CPU to 3ghz, that's pointless.

Get the GTX 460 for a graphics card => $199 After rebate
  3. i don't really know what i would do with usb3 and sata 2 i have no use for either yet becuase i dont plan on doing ssd's until the next build when they drop in price and are more available and cheaper
  4. It's always best to be a step ahead of the game so I would like USB3. With a decent aftermarket cooler your i5-750 can easily reach 3.5Ghz. If you don't fold or BOINC then you may as well save on electricity and not overclock but if you do you'll be shooting up the rankings. I digress, but the i5-760 is faster and cheaper in the UK than the i5-750 it has superseded.
