Help with New AMD Computer Config

Im planning on upgrading my computer's RAM and processor. I want to try out AMD, since intel is quickly becoming overpriced.

I want to play games maxed out, and I don't have a real need for multithreaded applications. I mainly use Photoshop, but that's about it. I have a Radeon 5770, but my CPU is really bottlenecking my performance in games and everything else..

so heres my planned config at $350:

Mobo: ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard

RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB)

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition

I was also wondering how well this processor overlocks.

Those upgrades are not going to help you max out many of the games available currently.. You'll need to upgrade your video card also.. What are your current system specs.?

I'm going to upgrade my gpu down the road, i was just wondering if this is a solid build, or if you'd prefer something else around the same price range

It looks fine, if you get a 212+ cooler you should get 3.8-4GHz, 3.6GHz if your unlucky.
