Sigma EF 500 Super DG (Canon EOS mount) ?

I currently use a third-party flash (Stigma EF 500 Super) on a
Canon Elan 7E. When I set the flash for ETTL mode (and the camera
for 'Aperature' priority auto-exposure), the combo habitually
overexposes pictures.

The high-speed (FP) flash-sync is difficult to setup. (See
http://photonotes.org/reviews/sigma-ef-500-super for an
explanation.)

I just learned that Sigma released an "updated" model "DG"
Does the EF500 Super DG correct the high-speed flash-sync?
(I'd still be using it on my Elan 7E.)

I've experienced some overexposure with the EF 500 Super on a D30 & 10D but
only at close distances. It is easily remedied by putting a StoFen diffuser
on the flash. Keep in mind that in Av mode, the camera will set the flash
exposure to properly expose the subject while it sets the shutter speed to
properly expose the background. So if your background is significantly
darker, it is certainly easier to overexpose the subject.

I do agree the high speed flash isn't easy to set up, but it does work. I
have read the updated DG is better with exposure.

There are a couple differences, of course. The Sigma is a little more
powerful, about the same as a 550EX. It can act as a master to another
E-TTL flash; the 420EX can only be a slave. It has full manual mode as
well, which the 420EX doesn't. I have both the Sigma & 420EX, I use
whichever one fits the situation better.
