Shorted out my USB

I put the wrong end of my phone charger into the USB port of my HP Pavilion desktop. Now it won't turn on. Permanent damage, or is there a way to reset?

You can try:
(1) Unplug the computer from the wall, wait 15 Minutes and retry.
(2) Still no work, Unplug from wall, remove CMOS battery and jumper the "Clear CMOS" pins - Check Computer manual if unsure.

If neither works, Most likely you have damaged the MB USB port circuit and possible that is shorting out the +5 USB Voltage. The computer then does not sent the "I'm OK" to the PSU to fully turn on. signal
