External hard disk not recognized

Hi,
My seagate 9KW2AL external 1TB HD is not recognized by the windows. It had i/o error, i could format it, but now it is not being recognized and is asking for driver. When i connect, it brings up the "Add new Hardware" wizard.

Either the drive has failed or the PCB attached to it has failed (this often fails first).

It may be impossible to test it with diagnostic software if the PC no longer recognises it, but you can try Seagate "SeaTools for Windows": http://www.seagate.com/support/downloads/seatools/
