I just purchased an Apricorn Sata to USB connector to connect a hdd that is full to transfer the files to my laptop. However, when I plug in the connector (with or without the hdd being attached) I can't find it anywhere on my computer and it doesn't recognize the adapter. Is this a power issue (I would assume that it is powered via the USB)? A driver issue?

I will assume that you are connecting to a USB 2.0 port, not 1.1 or 3.0.

First update the Apricorn software using the latest from the web site, I think this is the one: http://www.apricorn.com/downloads/EZGigIV.exe

Did you try the Windows add new hardware wizard with the drive attached? I would also try a different USB port.

If add new HW doesn't work, next try checking in the device manager on the generic usb hub to see if anything shows up in the properties, power tab and see if the device is there and the power requirement.
