lo there,

ok, planned build is as follows:

Code:
 Case: InWin Dragon Slayer

 MoBo: GA-H55M-USB3

 RAM: G.SKILL ECO (2x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

 CPU: Core i3-530

 HSF: Scythe Shuriken Rev. B

 TIM: Arctic Cooling MX-4

 SoundCard:	Asus Xonar Essence STX

 Optic Drive:	ASUS DRW-24B1ST DVD-Burner

I wanted the Thermalright MUX-120 Black but it wont fit the case \=
... AND it was too expensive for the planned budget =P

ok, the thread's point is to get some advice as for wether or not 400w is too much or just not enough to power this system.

I had the SeaSonic X SS-400FL 400W on mind but since the price is still a little high I might chose a more 'convenient' model =P

would 400w be overkill or not enough?

Also, do you guys know what Scythe means by:

does this mean there is the option of installing two simultaneous fans?

Either way, if the fan doesn't do its job very well I could always replace it with a better one (... right?)

P.S. yeah, I had to give up on gettin' the mushkins cause I ain't buyin' til next month \=

Yes but not much of one beyond say the lower end mid-range cards. Something like an HD5750 would be fine with a 400w unit. As jtt283 said stick with high quality brands like Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, PC Power and Cooling or XFX and you will be good.

Edit: A 500-550w unit from any of those manufacturers will run just about any single graphics card made.

It will fit in a 7.5" wide case and your case is 7.7" wide.

I clued in that you want a quiet cooler so the HYPER while cheap is definitely not quiet.
You could buy a 212+ and add a quiet TR X-SILENT-120 fan
http://www.ncixus.com/products/51386/X-Silent-120/Thermalright/
Btw i have a MUX-120 with 2 X-SILENT fans and it's very quiet.
Also have a 212+ on an i3 530 .
Btw i bought all my Thermalright stuff cheaper in Canada.
$45 for the cooler and $7 for the fan.

Good quality quiet psu's.

yeah, I am gettin' the SeaSonic S12II 430W. Think that'll do [=

As I mentioned, I first wanted the MUX-120 Black but since it's 160mm tall it won't fit in that case. The maximum clearance is 145mm, 1mm more and the side panel won't shut (without extra side fans, that is).

Case is 7.5" wide but the MoBo won't be placed @ exactly 0mm. see the problem now?

I am aware of the performance lack of the Shuriken Rev. B but I can get a hold of one for about 25 bucks (which is perfect for me as of now). Will upgrade HSF in the future, 'tho.
