Will my faster processor produce less heat?

Although there are other factor, such as the quality of the cpu prep (lapped, fan cleaned) and thermal compound used overall the t2600 should run a tad cooler than the t2050 imo.

Best solution

For an identical work load it will likely produce less total heat, however the heat production rate will probably be the same or higher than your old CPU so it will still get just as hot or hotter when running at 100% load, it just shouldnt spend as long at 100%.

Ok I take it that if the t2600 is running round 1.6ghz it will probably be cooler than the t2050 cause thats its 100% load but when both at 100% will temps be the same cause both have the same max TDP of 31W or will the t2600 be hotter cause of higher ghz, all other variables being the same?

Might just run some benchmarks

They will both reach the same maximum temperature at 100% load since they are based on the same process technology and have exactly the same number of transistors. The T2600 is just clocked higher.

The T2600 should finish the task(s) sooner and begin cooling down sooner than the T2050. In some cases this is enough to extend battery runtime.
