i want to lower the brightness of the display and am using xp.

there was no option to change the brightness in the power tab so i
downloaded some files from http://www.csd.toshiba.com

these state they are for windows 2000 because i dont think xp is
supported. they are supposed to give this option.

after installing these files from the support page -
tosacp2k.exe
w2kdpsd1.exe
w2kpwrx1.exe

in that order, im given an extra tab on the power tab which allows for
the brightness to change, but it doesnt work.

has anyone managed to adjust the brightness on the portege (using xp)?

i know of a sourceforge project called fnfx, but that only works on
linux.

Before you see the toshiba logo press ESC and keep the key pressed
until you go into bios. You will have an option for the display. This
has worked on all th 7xxx and 3xxx family of laptops that I have worked
with.
