I want to build a new Gaming Machine and my budget it $2000 max. I don't like SLI/Two Graphic cards in one system. I prefer to have one good graphic card.

Below are some questions..
1. Is SD worth the investment? (for the Operative System and the most played games?)
2. Which OS should I go with?

Note: I can wait a few months if it's advised (new models released or prices going down).

Go with an SSD..

Get windows 7 64 bit.. it's pretty much the only choice...

Get a motherboard with the new hydra chip (you can put ATi/NVIDIA together or SLI or CrossfireX if you want. Consider 2 cards, a pair of gtx 460's are the best bang for the buck. Who cares about having 2 cards? It makes your system even awesome..R!

Hello Mr. Pizza,

Thank you for your help. I guess Windows 7 64bit and SSD is a good thing to have. How do you use the SSD basically, is it there for the OS only or do people install their games on it? (knowing the size limitation of the SSD).

I would get an SLI or XFire but I am always worried about over heating but my knowledge is out dated. Back in 2007 SLI didn't really give me much of an edge anyway and it costs a lot more + more heat. Maybe things have changed now?

Yes, two GTX 460's is the best bang for the buck, but he specifically said he only wanted 1 card, and I can understand where he's coming from.

If you really want to build now i'd go with the Radeon HD 5970 or a 5870, but I would highly recommend waiting it out a couple months, when the new 6000 series will arrive!!!
